பதம் தே கீரத்தீநாம் பிரபதம் அபதம் தேவி விபதாம்
கதம் நீதம் ஸத்பி: கடிந கமடீ கர்பரதுலாம்
கதம் வா பாஹூப்யாம் உபயமந காலே புரபிதா
யதா தாய ந்யஸ்தம் த்ருஷதி தய மாநேந மநஸா


Oh Goddess Devi!

I don't understand how the poets compared the fore side of Your merciful feet - which are the source of fame to Your devotees and are not a source of danger to them to the hard shell of a tortoise. How did He, who destroyed the three cities take them in his hand during Your marriage and placed them on a hard rock? (During the marriage ritual, the groom places the bride's feet over a slab of hard rock wishing their relationship to be as strong as the rock and sights the divine star Arundhathi).

என் தேவியே!

உன் பக்தர்களுக்கு புகழைத் தருமே அன்றி அழிவைத் தராத உன் கருணை மிகு பாதத்தின் மேல் பகுதியை, ஆமையின் கடின ஓட்டோடு ஒப்பிட எப்படித் தான் புலவர்களால் முடிந்ததோ என நான் அறியேன். முப்புரிகளையும் எரித்த உன் தலைவனால் எவ்வாறு தான் உன் பாதங்களைத் தன் கரங்களில் ஏந்தி அம்மிக் கல்லில் வைக்க முடிந்ததோ? (கல்யாணச் சடங்கில் மாப்பிள்ளை, மணப்பெண்ணின் பாதங்களை அம்மிக் கல்லில் வைத்து, தங்களின் உறவும் அதைப் போன்று உறுதியாக இருக்க வேண்டும் என வேண்டி அருந்ததி என்னும் நட்சத்திரத்தைப் பார்ப்பதாக ஐதீகம்.)
