விபஞ்ச்யா காயந்தீ விவிதம் அபதாநம் பசுபதே:
த்வயாரப்தே வக்தும் சலித சிரஸா ஸாதுவசநே
ததீயைர் மாதுர்யைர் அபலபித தந்த்ரீ கல ரவாம்
நிஜாம் வீணாம் வாணீ நிசுலயதி சோலேந நிப்ருதம்
Oh mother of all!

Oh mother of all!
When you start nodding your head muttering sweetly 'Good! Good!' to Goddess Saraswathi who sings the glory of our lord Shiva to You, to the accompaniment of her Veena, Saraswathi mutes the sound of Veena by a covering cloth so that the strings which throw the sweetest music are not put to shame by your voice filled with sweetness.
அனைவருக்கும் தாயே!
சரஸ்வதி தேவி நமது தலைவர் சிவனைப் பற்றித் தனது வீணையோடு பாடும் போது நீ உனது தலையை ஆட்டி 'நல்லது! நல்லது!' என மதுரமான ஓசையை உதிர்க்கின்றாய். மதுரமான இசை மீட்டும் அதன் தந்திகள் உனது குரலின் இனிமையால் வெட்கி விடக் கூடாது என்பதற்காக, சரஸ்வதி அவ்வீணையை ஒரு துணியைக் கொண்டு மூடுகிறாள்.
